The Lycan Precision Hybrid Loop sling with hardware kit includes two 36″ pieces of 2.4mm Kevlar Cord, two pieces of Shrink Tube, and two Sling Hardware attachments. The Standard Length Sling is ideal for an AR or Rifle with a barrel length between 13.5” and 22”.
It features a sleek 1.25″-wide padded shoulder area and a Hybrid Loop for quick identification and easy manipulation. The Hybrid Loop Sling is on a heavy duty 7075 aluminum tri-glide instead of the plastic or polymer tri-glides that you see being used for the adjust on a lot of slings. The sling is also Berry Compliant and Made in the USA.
Material:
A sling made out of nylon certainly would have been substantially cheaper to make. But Lycan Precision wanted to make one of the best slings on the market and doing that starts with using the best materials available. Using seatbelt material on rifle slings was almost unheard of, but the benefits are undeniable. One of the first things the Operators noticed was that the seatbelt material doesn’t grab onto your clothing like nylon slings. Especially when compared to nylon padded slings that use 500D and 1000D nylon. Seatbelt material is more durable and also has a substantially higher break strength than nylon. The seatbelt material allows for the Hybrid Loop to glide smoothly back and forth when you’re adjusting the sling. Plus, it’s much less abrasive on your skin. One of the comments the Operators made during the testing phase was that the sling was the first sling they’d ever used that didn’t rub their neck raw after a long day of training.
Padding:
The Special Mission Unit Operators wanted the padded area to be more streamlined than anything else out there. Cutting the padded area width to 1.25″ – from the industry standard 2.5″-3.25″ – meant it was less likely to get caught up on their gear and less of an obstruction while dynamic shooting.
Hardware:
You can run whatever sling hardware you want (e.g., sling hardware, QDs). However, QDs can get noisy when sand and dirt get trapped between the QD and its attachment point. The sling hardware is milled in the US from 7075 aluminum making it both strong and lightweight. And the 2.4mm Kevlar Cord that comes standard with the Sling Hardware package is also made in the USA and a single strand has a tensile strength of 525lb!
