Foundation Stocks took the knowledge gained from working with micarta over the past 10 years and set out to design a lightweight stock that implements their signature feature – the dampening (or dead feel) – into a stock with a target weight of 32 oz bare. Functional weight of the stocks (e.g., bipod attachment point, recoil pad choice) will be in the 2.5 lb. +/- range, depending on configuration.
Why choose a hybrid? Carbon fiber provides the stock with high elastic modulus and bending strength while the Kevlar/aramid supplies excellent torsion and dampening performance, assuring high impact strength. The hybridization of the two materials together results in significantly higher energy absorption than carbon fiber or Kevlar individually.
